The Hope Awards is designed to encourage the creation of short films demonstrating a clear message of hope for people with mental illness, their families and carers. Successfully piloted in 2005/06, the Hope Awards was developed to increase awareness of mental illness, and contribute to a reduction in the associated stigma that often prevents people from seeking help.

The Arts Law Centre of Australia is holding a free seminar especially for people making a film for the Hope Awards. The seminar will be held at 6.00pm on Tuesday,11 December 2007 at Hyde Park Inn, 271 Elizabeth Street, Sydney.

To register for the seminar, please email rachel@cubepr.com.au or phone: 02 9578 2054. Places are limited so please book early.

The 2007/08 Hope Awards opens on Monday, 3 December 2007 and closes on Friday 28 March 2008. Entries will be judged in April by a Steering Committee of six national mental health organisations and a select panel of expert judges. Winners will be announced in July 2008.
