Lowside, The Short Film We Made For The Shootout 2004
In 2004, we made the following short film, “Lowside”, and entered it into The Shootout in Newcastle. Please keep in mind that we only had 24 hours to make it and we had to include 5 items or locations from a supplied list.
For the two months prior to the event, the team met several times to work on preproduction items including the script, organising accommodation, vehicles and other logistics.
The event is held from 9pm Friday night to 9pm Saturday night and you are only allowed to edit within the camera, so we made sure our script was written accordingly. The first half was shot at night and the second half was shot during the day.
Since the story was quite dark in nature, we hoped that it would rain a little on the Friday night and fine up a bit on the Saturday and lucky for us, it did!
